“Most impressive library I've ever seen. Highlights: - HUGE: so may floors and so much space to hang out - Looked like a tech company space but a public version for more to enjoy - Roof garden with expansive views and fun colorful seating - A full tech area to create in with computers and installed software - Gallery: full room featuring an artist on the main level - Art: beautiful colored windows, art inside, and cool art installation with words from a snippet of a poem in English and Spanish. - Architecture: actual building was modern with unique angles and lovely. And you cross a butterfly bridge to get there - Bike repair shop below - Restaurant and coffee shop window Midlights: - My home town does not have a library like this Lowliglights: - The elevator is very slow and doesn't smell so clean...”
“Beautiful interior and exterior , loved the stairs going up. Plenty of seating outlets , books , games , events ,and online access. Great place for a hangout with family or friends. The 6th floor view is beautiful, and restrooms too. Don't worry there's elevators, parking , plenty of access for everyone”
“Went on a field trip with the kid and school today. Susan and her stay were great and very funny and patience with our bunch. Was my first time and was the best time ever. We will definitely be coming back. Oh and the garden up on the 6th floor priceless and beautiful. Thanks for the experience.”
“Been meaning to visit Austin Public Library Downtown for a while!! Definitely worth the hype as a non-local. I visited in early Feb 2026. It's a modern building with a clean navigation/division of genres. Tons of tables and chairs spread-out, perfect for college students or remote folks looking for a place to hanker down and study. Or read , ofc!! I stayed for about 1.5 hours to do some studying for an exam. The rooftop garden was chill, with a nice view. Like many others have said, the parking is free for the 1st hour. There is a sign that lists the fees by # of hours stayed. It is kind of a pain to wait to exit the garage so if you have plans after your library visit, plan accordingly! I paid for my parking on the 2nd floor of the library, there is a machine.”
“This library is absolutely beautiful and the staff is also incredibly friendly. There is plenty of seating space to sit and read, or work, including a gorgeous rooftop terrace with amazing views of the city. I went there to print some documents and ended up grabbing a coffee at the coffee shop downstairs, then stopped by the gift shop right across from it. If you love museum gift shops, this one is a must-visit! You can find perfect Austin-themed souvenirs. It’s a total must-do if you are visiting the city!”
